Ready Texas Nurses is a web-based, emergency response system designed to activate volunteer nurses in times of crisis and disaster. Both RNs and LVNs can register to volunteer. All it takes is your nursing license number, a visit to the Ready Texas Nurses registration area to answer some brief questions about your practice expertise and experience, and the willingness to volunteer your nursing skills in time of crisis.

Created in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S. and their resulting concerns about biological and chemical attacks, Ready Texas Nurses volunteers were frontline responders to the disasters brought on by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  The experience gained from those two hurricane events helped shaped state policy, and made Texas a leader in disaster preparedness.  (Read more here..)

Ready Texas Nurses leverages one of Texas' greatest assets:  its nurses and their willingness to help others in times of need.

Personal Items List - items you can take with you if called upon for service in a disaster.

The Ready Texas Nurses emergency response system is funded by the Texas Nurses Foundation in cooperation with the Texas Nurses Association, the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Board of Nursing.
